A Marketing Manager, ideally with experience working in the Leisure / Travel / Tourism sector is required to work for this Leisure company in developing and driving all marketing, advertising , promotional campaigns both on and offline.

He / she will work as a member of the senior management team, reporting the board of directors, and will be responsible for contributing to the strategic planning of long term marketing opportunities to drive forward company objectives.

Responsibilities:
- Implement and manage a strategic marketing plan
- Developing and maintaining public relations activity
- Communicate and present marketing ideas, opportunities and achievements to date to the Directors.
- Research and evaluate new opportunities to other regions to increase awareness and customer base.
- To manage and build effective mailing databases and customer records data through RMS and identify marketing opportunities.
- To budget manage
- Lead and support with designs of materials and branding marketing activity.
- To manage the production of marketing materials from proof reading, liaising with designers, printers and communication to team.

Multimedia Designer – Graphic / Web – Southampton – up to £25k

A Multimedia Designer is required for an expanding organisation based in Southampton. This is a tremendous opportunity for a creative & talented designer who has experience of both Graphic Design and Web Design to take on a varied and autonomous position within this growing company.

Responsibilities:
- Produce a wide range of sales and marketing campaigns and collateral including creatively designed consumer mailers, door drops, advertising, product literature and point-of-sale material
- Provide brand materials to assist Channel partners to create their own advertisements / promotional material
- Manage and update the content on the company website(s)
- Design and build microsites, landing pages, web banners and HTML newsletters
- Update social media accounts with content and graphics
- Maintain image library
- Maintain stock levels of literature/promotional materials

Experience required:
- A Degree in Graphic Design or closely related discipline is preferable
- Experience designing websites
- An understanding of offline / online advertising and marketing communications
- Strong command of: In-design, Illustrator, Quark Xpress, Photoshop and Flash essential

- Understanding of French language is an advantage

Google places to have impact on recruitment market

Google has today started to roll-out a change to it's search patterns by introducing Google places to a much larger degree. (http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2010/10/place-search-faster-easier-way-to-find.html)

This is likely to have a massive impact on both search directories such as Yell, Yelp and 192.com as their results are unlikely to be on the first page of Google due to the switch. The change will see the sites which were initially listed as the 7-pack now within the first page search.

In terms of the impact on the recruitment market, this is likely to assist niche and local recruiters who otherwise would have been struggling to compete with larger players within the marketplace.

Whether or not Google will eventually begin charging organisations for clicks they receive through their Google Places position remains to be seen but it is certainly going to keep SEO specialsits / webmasters busy.

BBC's marketing chief to be made redundant

The Daily Mail is getting itself all upset again with regards to the redundancy of Sharon Baylay - the BBC's marketing chief. It appears that Ms Baylay is expected to receive a pay-off worth hundreds of thousands of pounds. Well forgive me but if she's signed a contract and that's what she's owed - then that's what she's owed.

I am sure that the journalist Paul Revoir would fully expect to be paid what his contract is worth if heaven forbid the Daily Mail were forced to make redundancies.

Miss Baylay joined from Microsoft's UK online division and obviously has some excellent experience in order to secure the Director of Marketing, Communications and Audiences role. If the market is paying £250,000+ for such experience, then the BBC has to look to compete to attract top talent. If not the likes of the Mail would be getting most upset about the quality of the programming or news services that the Beeb offers.
